Man arrested in Fuerteventura for drug dealing after flaunting wealth on social media

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in Fuerteventura, on suspicion of drug dealing following an investigation that began in November 2024 as he boasted of a lavish lifestyle online without having a job.

The arrest was the culmination of a targeted operation by the National Police, who were alerted to the man’s return to drug dealing activities.

The detainee, who has been previously arrested twice for drug-related offences, was found to be selling and distributing cocaine from his home in Puerto del Rosario. According to the police, the man operated a window-based sales system, where buyers would approach his residence to exchange money for drugs discreetly.

The investigation intensified after officers noticed the suspect showcasing a lavish lifestyle on social media. Despite having no known legitimate employment or income, he frequently posted images of large sums of cash, gold jewellery, and several vehicles online. His apparent wealth, combined with significant unaccounted-for expenses, raised suspicions of illegal activity.

A search of the suspect’s home uncovered 16.61 grams of cocaine, precision scales, and various items used in the preparation and packaging of narcotics. Police also seized €1,375 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Following the investigation, the man was placed in the custody of judicial authorities, and the National Police have not ruled out further arrests as they continue to examine the extent of his drug trafficking network.
