Fuerteventura Airport will extend its operating hours from 1st November, staying open until 11:00pm to offer airlines greater flexibility and strengthen links to the island.
The airport currently closes at 10:30pm, but the new timetable will push that back by 30 minutes.
Spain’s airport operator AENA confirmed the change this week, along with another extension at La Palma Airport, which will open two and a half hours longer each day, from 7:00am to 11:00pm.
Both airports will also have the option to remain open until midnight, though only under special circumstances. Airlines can request the extra time in advance if flights are delayed due to weather conditions or operational issues.
AENA said the decision comes after a detailed technical study and consultations with all relevant parties, including airlines, air traffic control, and local authorities.
