Four arrested for posing as police officers and committing a violent house robbery

The National Police have arrested four men in Playa Del Ingles, aged between 25 and 44 years old, as suspects of a crime that took place in July when they allegedly broke into a house posing as police officers shouting "Police" and then assaulting and restraining those inside the house before burgling them.

The National Police in Gran Canaria received an alert on the day in question and went to the reported location, where they found several victims and witnesses to the incident.

They stated that moments earlier, hooded individuals armed with simulated guns and extendable batons forcefully entered the property claiming they were the police, before forcefully restraining the occupants with cable ties.

Following this, the intruders started shouting at the tenant of the property saying they knew there was drugs and money there somewhere, demanding to know where it was. After unsuccessfully searching the property, they then forcibly took two gold chains and a watch from him.

One of the witnesses informed the officers that he did not know the residents of the house or the individuals who immobilized him on the floor. He claimed to have only gone there to buy drugs, as the resident was known as "the Colombian" and was involved in the sale of narcotics.

The National Police initiated an investigation to clarify the events. With the help of statements from victims and several witnesses, the officers successfully identified the suspects—four men with criminal records.

Upon locating them, the suspects were immediately arrested for the crimes of impersonation of public officials, robbery with violence, and unlawful detention. After being brought before the Judicial Authority, all four were remanded in custody.
