Bad fog at one of Tenerife’s airports led to flight diversions and delays in departures for safety reasons yesterday (Friday), according to AENA and Air Traffic Controllers who warned of the problems on Twitter.
In total, four flights were diverted to Tenerife South airport to land and many more were delayed taking off from the Los Rodeos north airport causing frustration for travellers, but as always, Air Traffic Controllers posted that ‘safety comes first’.
AENA confirmed that by the end of yesterday, normal service was gradually recovering with planes being allowed to land and the back log of departures finally taking off.
No delays are expected today, however, the weather in the La Laguna valley can be unpredictable for fog and high cross winds.
