Final details of the inaugural flight from New York to Tenerife are confirmed

The director of Tourism for the Tenerife Cabildo, Laura Castro, and the CEO of Turismo de Tenerife, David Pérez, held a meeting with technicians from United Airlines yesterday to finalise the details of the inaugural flight between Tenerife and New York on 9th June, which will be carried out by the US airline three times a week.

Castro highlighted the work that has been carried out with United Airlines, as well as with Turespaña, to guarantee that the flight is not only a success, but that it survives over time and is consolidated as a regular route within the first two years of operating.

"Our market diversification strategy in the case of North America will allow us to capture travellers with medium-high purchasing power, for which the Island has a high standard of infrastructures, which are up to their expectations," Castro said.

She added that this route is the result of the push that the Cabildo, under the presidency of Pedro Martín, is giving to tourism for the island and with it "a market opportunity is created" that goes beyond the sector, with the hopes that North Americans discover the Island at a time when “distances are getting shorter”, and that they are “pleasantly surprised” by the gastronomy, climate, nature and culture that we have to offer.

Likewise, the new connection between Tenerife and New York offers a multitude of business opportunities. Castro explained that various promotional campaigns have been launched by the Cabildo with their new representative office in the United States, "which will allow potential travellers to be captured through the emotions and experiences of great experiences on the Island.”

David Pérez confirmed that "the welcome preparations of the inaugural flight were finalized, as well as the actions that will be carried out on the first flights, both from New York to Tenerife and vice versa, with the aim of achieving the consolidation of this line within two years”.

Pérez explained that last week Tenerife participated in a meeting in Miami with 58 professionals from the tourism sector, which was attended by buyers with high purchasing power invited by Turespaña.
