An 86-year-old man was killed this morning (Monday) in a house fire in the Campo Internacional de Maspalomas in Gran Canaria, as reported by the emergency services.
The incident took place at around 4:00 am this morning in a property located on Avenida Touroperador Saga Tours, which is when the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert and dispatched the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Fire and Rescue Service to the scene of the fire.
Firefighters managed to get the blaze under control quickly which had completely gutted the house, and confirmed that a man had been trapped inside.
After recovering his body, paramedics could only confirm his death as a result of the fire although his body will be taken for official identification and an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
Proteccíon Civil collaborated with the emergency services at the scene of the incident and the Local Police carried out the corresponding procedures for the report.
