The Arona City Council has closed the TF-66 to traffic Las Galletas and El Fraile this afternoon (Sunday) for safety reasons it has been flooded due to the strength of the waves on the south coast during the weather warnings for adverse coastal phenomena, and are displaying red flags on all of the municipality’s beaches and bathing areas.
The mayor of Arona, Fatima Lemes, said: "Safety should prevail at all times, we appreciate the application of all security measures and, above all, the speed of action of the emergency services. We request that the population and visitors refrain from entering the sea in red flag areas to avoid any risk.”
Alexis Gómez, Security Councillor of the Arona Council, stated that "we have taken the decision to close the TF-66 for safety in coordination with the Cabildo. In addition, the businesses of the Las Galletas coastal promenade have been asked to close because the safety of locals and visitors is our highest priority”.
He went on to explain that "when the sea level goes down we will re-evaluate the situation and take the necessary measures at that time."
