A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition after being knocked over by a car in Tuineje, on the island of Fuerteventura, according to the Canary Islands' Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The incident occurred at 2:41pm yesterday (Monday) on Calle El Palmeral in the municipality. Emergency SUC medical personnel, along with a doctor and a nurse from Gran Tarajal Health Centre, were the first to arrive at the scene of the accident.
Upon arrival, they confirmed that the boy had sustained multiple severe injuries. Given the seriousness of his condition, he was taken by ambulance to Fuerteventura General Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition for urgent treatment.
Officers from the Guardia Civil were also present at the scene and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
