A 55-year-old woman drowns in the south of Gran Canaria

A 55-year-old woman died yesterday afternoon (Saturday) after drowning in the sea off Puerto Rico beach in the south of Gran Canaria in the municipality of Mogán, according to a report by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

They received a call at 3:50pm reporting that lifeguards on the beach had rescued a woman from the sea who was showing signs of drowning and were administering CPR to try and revive her.

CECOES immediately dispatched SUC ambulances to the beach where paramedics took over from the lifeguards with advanced resuscitation manoeuvres, but unfortunately, they couldn’t revive her, and could only confirm her death.
