The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) will end the weather warning for strong winds tonight (Thursday) at midnight, after they touched 95 km/h in the last 24 hours. In fact, yesterday the Canary Islands had the 10 most intense gusts of wind recorded in the whole of Spain.

Arure, in La Gomera, had the strongest gusts of 95 km/h at 1:20pm yesterday, in La Aldea one of 91 km/h was reached at 3:40am, followed by Agüimes with one of 90 km/h at 2:50pm, and Pájara with 87 km/h at 6.50am.

What does remain in force though, is the yellow warning for coastal phenomena, with waves reaching four metres in height, on the east, south and west coast of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and the entire coast of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.

Tomorrow, Friday, wind and sea condition warnings will give way to a heat warning with a yellow alert for maximum temperatures of more than 34 degrees in the south, east and west of Gran Canaria from 11am to 7pm.

As for today, AEMET is forecasting cloudy skies in the north of the islands of greater relief (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Palma) with a low probability of some weak and occasional rain this morning at altitude.

In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, cloudy intervals but clearing later in the day, and in the rest of the areas, light cloud or clear. The arrival of a slight haze at height is expected, extending from the east to cover the entire archipelago.
