TORRES: The islands will be included on the UK green list 'imminently'

The president of the Canary Islands Government, Ángel Víctor Torres, has announced today that the UK could remove the archipelago "imminently" from its list of destinations that discourage travel, to be added to their green list.

Speaking to the media after participating in the presentation of the Covid-Safe Lanzarote project, Torres said that the Government of the Canary Islands is in "constant contact" with the British authorities.

In this regard, he said that the UK's decision to consider and review the idlands separately from the mainland "is going to be confirmed", which would allow British tourists to come to the archipelago from June 7th.

"It is imminent that this can be achieved," said Torres, who added that hopes that 'Dia De Canarias' on May 30th, can be celebrated with the news of the opening of the British tourist market.

The United Kingdom would thus join Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark, which from today (Saturday) are allowing their citizens to travel to the Canary Islands without the need to quarantine upon their return.
