The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the yellow weather warning throughout the Canary Islands for this afternoon, Friday, due to wind on the islands of La Palma and La Gomera, as well as adverse sea conditions, strong currents, and big waves in the rest of the Archipelago. Tomorrow the same level of alert will continue in all of the Canary Islands, except in El Hierro.
Today, gusts of 75 kilometres per hour are expected in La Gomera from a north-easterly direction, as well as in the peaks and high areas of La Palma. Strong winds are also forecast in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and El Hierro, but not as strong.
The results of these winds are adverse sea conditions, and bathers are advised to be careful when going in the water, and to check the colour of the flags on the beaches in case of warnings.
As for the forecast this afternoon, it will be overcast across the archipelago with some clearings in the south of the islands of greater relief. In the less mountainous islands, cloudy intervals are expected.
Rain is also forecast in the north of Tenerife, La Palma, and La Gomera, and temperatures will experience a drop to between 17 and 21 degrees.
