37 degrees expected in the Canary Islands tomorrow

According to the latest report from Aemet, temperatures will reach 37ºC in Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura tomorrow (Monday), and then relatively cool air will arrive on Tuesday causing temperatures to drop again.

The mass of very warm and dry air from Africa is not only affecting the Canary Islands, as it began to enter the south of mainland Spain on Friday and will extend to the entire territory today except the extreme northwest of the country.

As a consequence, a marked increase in temperatures is expected, and the marked thermal rise will also be assisted by atmospheric stability and strong insolation, typical of this time of year, making it even hotter.

Late on Sunday, a drop in temperatures in the British Isles will induce a flow of fresh air from the northwest, which will cause the start of a thermal decline in western Galicia.

This decline will be generalized on Monday to the rest of the mainland, except for the far east of the country, where temperatures will rise significantly, especially on the coast.

Temperatures of 40ºC will be reached in points of the Ebro valley and in large areas inland in the south of Spain, especially in the central part of the Guadalquivir valley, where 44ºC is expected.

Tomorrow, Monday, 40ºC will be exceeded in areas of the east and southeast of Spain, reaching 44ºC in the Region of Murcia, and 40ºC on the coast of Malaga.

In the Canary Islands, it will reach 35ºC in a fairly generalized way across the archipelago, and occasionally 37ºC in the centre and south of Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.

As for Tuesday, the relatively fresh air is expected to affect all the islands, causing a drop in temperatures, to what is average for the time of year.
