The vice president of the Canary Islands Government, Antonio Olivera, announced yesterday afternoon after the extra Governing Council meeting, that they have confirmed the limit of a maximum of ten people who do not live together who can attend meals and gatherings in the family environment on Christmas Eve (24th) and Christmas Day (25th) for islands at levels 2 and 3, with the added recommendation that all are fully vaccinated.
At the government headquarters in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Olivera made it clear that this measure is only applicable in private spaces, and not in bars, restaurants, or commercial places, where the limit remains more restrictive.
These measures are similar to those adopted at Christmas last year, making the limits more flexible on the key days of the holidays, but with maximum prevention given the worrying evolution of the pandemic in recent weeks in the Archipelago.
In this way, as in other regions and countries, the Canary Islands are committed to making the measures more flexible before such important dates, but, at the same time, with prudence.
In fact, Olivera explained that at the moment this only applies to Christmas so they can analyze the evolution of the data next week, and then make the appropriate decisions for New Year and Reyes dates.
Hospitality:
As it is limited only to the family environment, i.e. at home, in restaurants, bars, and other businesses, the maximum number of people in Level 3 is still 6 at a table, although it can be raised to 8 (that allowed in Level 2) if the Covid certificate is used.
The Government insists that, “regardless of the number of people who meet, the precautionary and prevention measures, such as the use of a mask, social distancing, and the vaccination certificate or diagnostic tests, that give more peace of mind, be followed at all times. All the elements of prevention are recommended in search of the maximum health security”, said Olivera.
