All airports in the Canary Islands are fully functional except for La Palma

All airports are fully functional in the Canary Islands this morning, except for La Palma, as confirmed by AENA (the airport management company), without any delays or cancellations expected due to ash from the Cumbre Vieja volcano. Both domestic and international flights have been affected in the last 36 hours, including some from easyJet, Iberia, Vueling, Binter and CanaryFly.

EasyJet have confirmed that they are operational again after delaying flights to Tenerife from Manchester and Gatwick on Friday for precautionary reasons, but they arrived safely yesterday and now their full schedule is resumed.

Canarian airline, Binter, cancelled all flights on Friday indefinitely to and from not only La Palma, but also Tenerife North, Tenerife South, and La Gomera, but those have been resumed due to the change in direction of the ash cloud due to the wind.

However, commercial flights to and from La Palma are still cancelled due to ash accumulation which is leaving a ‘blanket’ across roads, cars, and buildings in the same way as snow does, except it is grey/brown in colour and doesn’t melt.

Those planning to fly to any of the Canary Islands in the foreseeable future are advised to confirm the status of their flights with their airline, as the situation can change depending on the weather and the size of the ash particles, but it is completely safe to travel right now.
