VIDEO goes viral showing the sunbed wars tourists’ face on holiday

The battle for a sunbed has returned at a hotel in the south of Tenerife, as a new video that has gone viral on TikTok shows, after similar scenes did the rounds a few summers ago.

In reality, it is a really common practice as groups of tourists go early to the pool to reserve a lounger by putting a towel, an item of clothing, or something similar on them, but then hotel staff remove them as they prohibit saving them in this way, because they say it causes inconvenience to other guests, hence the early morning battle when the pool area is opened.

This time the images have been captured by British holidaymaker Thomas Clifford, who posted them on social media during his stay in a hotel in Tenerife, where you can see people lining up around the pool before dashing for the best spots to secure a sunbed by the water.

Thomas focuses on his watch, showing that "it's not even eight in the morning and there are already people waiting. People act like snipers, throwing their towels from the terrace. Some have been waiting since 7:20am!”

"I felt sorry for the poor man trying to clean the pool as everyone stampeded him."

Have you experienced this on your holiday in the Canary Islands? What is, or should be, the correct sunbed etiquette whilst on holiday?
