VIDEO: Police detain wanted Slovakian fugitive in Costa Adeje
The National Police have arrested a 29-year-old Slovakian fugitive in Adeje in the south of Tenerife, who has an active European Arrest Warrant against him issued by the judicial authorities in his home country. He is suspected of committing several fraud offences, for which he faces up to five years in prison in Slovakia.
Investigators from the National Police became aware of the possible presence of a Slovakian fugitive on the island, after a tip-off from the Slovak authorities. After conducting their inquiries, officers managed to locate him in the south of the island where he had been working discreetly as a waiter at a restaurant in Playa de las Américas.
In a carefully coordinated police operation, National Police officers apprehended the fugitive and have kept him in custody at the main police station in Las Americas whilst his extradition back to Slovakia is processed at the duty magistrate's court in Arona.
Once back in his home country, he will face trial for the charges of fraud against him.
