A Europe-wide alert has been issued, which includes Spain, ordering the immediate withdrawal and recall of the "HOTWAV CYBER 7" mobile phone, after laboratory tests revealed that the device exceeds permissible radiofrequency exposure limits, posing a potential health risk to users and their pets.
The decision is based on findings from France’s Authority for Market Surveillance of Radio Equipment (ANFR), which determined that the device fails to comply with the health and safety regulations outlined in Directive 2014/53/EU. As a result, French authorities have ordered the immediate removal of the product from the market.
In January, Greece’s National Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) prohibited the use of the "HOTWAV CYBER 7", as detailed in decision 1138/3, published in the Official Gazette B/136/22-01-2025. After three months without objections from the European Commission or other EU member states, the measure was formally extended to the Greek market under Article 41 of Presidential Decree 98/2017.
Distributors of the device are legally required to withdraw it from circulation and report the recall process to the EETT. Consumers who have purchased the "HOTWAV CYBER 7" can contact their supplier to return the product.
With over 30 million pets in Spanish households, this alert highlights the importance of rigorous safety controls for electronic devices sold within the European market. Authorities continue to monitor compliance to prevent risks associated with excessive radiofrequency exposure.
