Three arrested for building a luxury house with a pool on rustic land in Tenerife

Three people have been arrested by SEPRONA agents belonging to the Nature Protection Service of the Guardia Civil, after being accused of building a house and a pool on protected ground in Puerto de la Cruz, in Tenerife.

Thanks to citizen collaboration and after studying aerial photographs and data from the land registry, they were able to confirm that they had constructed a luxury residential-type property, with a swimming pool, terraces, and concrete paving, which had involved them levelling land, building sewage facilities, and connecting electricity and water from a local farm.

The agents inspected the works and verified that they did not conform to the urban planning laws in force in the Canary Islands. Likewise, those responsible were questioned and it was verified that they lacked any licences or permits for the works they were carrying out, a project approved and signed by a competent technician, or a contract for the execution of the works with a construction company.

Following the investigation, the agents initiated proceedings for a crime against land use planning and urban planning, against the three people. The proceedings have been forwarded to the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 3 of Puerto de la Cruz where a demolition order will be issued and the relevant fines for the people involved.
