The future of the hotel and hospitality industry in the EU will be discussed this month in Adeje

The future of the hotel and hospitality industry in the European Union will be the main topic of the 86th General Assembly of the European Employers' association conference, HOTREC, which will be held at the GF Victoria Hotel in Costa Adeje from the 26th to the 28th of this month, with the participation of a hundred representatives of 46 national associations in the EU.

Professionals from hotels, complexes, restaurants, bars, cafes, and similar establishments in Europe, will participate in the Hotrec assembly, which was announced yesterday by Jorge Marichal, president of Ashotel and the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodations (CEHAT), accompanied by the President of the Tenerife Cabildo, Pedro Martín and the Mayor of Adeje, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga.

Marichal said that the hotel and hospitality activity in Spain "is a fundamental pillar of our economy and part of our DNA, so it is great satisfaction for us to become a meeting point for the sector at a European level".

In addition, he said that the Canary Islands are highly dependent on air connectivity given its geographical location, so, in his opinion, "it is important that we are able to make our colleagues understand that legislation that is negotiated in Europe may affect the Canary Islands as a top-level tourist destination”, alluding to the debate on the so-called green tax on jet fuel.

The representatives of the European hotel and hospitality industry will discuss issues related to sectoral regulations and guidelines, digitization, training and retention of talent in the sector, accessibility, electronic commerce, sustainability, and the use of private housing for tourists.
