The Canary Islands recorded the highest temperatures in Spain on Friday of 37.1°C

The Canary Islands once again ‘topped the table’ in terms of the highest temperatures in Spain yesterday (Friday), with the Tasarte meteorological station, in the west of Gran Canaria, recording 37.1°C at 3:50pm in the afternoon.

Other high temperatures included Adeje recording 36.8 degrees in the south of Tenerife, Arucas (Gran Canaria) 36.2, La Graciosa and La Aldea de San Nicolás 35.8, Arico (Tenerife) 35.5, La Dama-Vallehermoso (La Gomera) 35.1, Llano de Los Loros-La Laguna (Tenerife) 34.7, Antigua (Fuerteventura) 34.2, and Pájara (Fuerteventura) 34.1 degrees.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts that the Canary Islands will once again be the warmest region in the country today (Saturday), as a slight increase in maximum temperatures is expected in the islands, where temperatures will reach or exceed 34 degrees in many areas of the archipelago, except for La Palma.

Minimum temperatures will remain above 24-26 degrees, and there will be the presence of light haze in the skies, which will generally remain partly cloudy.

Temperatures are forecast to drop tomorrow, Sunday, as the heatwave starts to dissipate due to the influence of a low-pressure weather system from the Atlantic.
