The Blue Flags are proudly displayed on 60 beaches in the Canary Islands

The blue flags have been proudly raised on 60 beaches in the Canary Islands, as ADEAC officially presented them to the relevant town halls on Monday, after announcing which ones had won it this year in May for their quality and facilities.

The Canary Islands won two more this year than in 2022, with 56 beaches and 4 marinas receiving recognition. Despite the increase, it should be noted that the most emblematic urban beach in the islands, Las Canteras in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has lost this distinction this year.

The vice president of ADEAC, Virginia Yuste, said that to maintain the flag, "there must be a quality of bathing water at all sampling points", something that Las Canteras has failed twice this year for contamination levels above those permitted.

However, the four benchmark beaches for tourism on the islands: Maspalomas, Meloneras, and San Agustín, in the south of Gran Canaria, and Los Cristianos in the south of Tenerife, all retained their status.

Here are all the beached awarded this year:
TENERIFE:
Jover Beach in La Laguna; El Duque and Torviscas (Adeje); El Camisón, Las Vistas, Los Cristianos (Arona); El Muelle and Caletón (Garachico); Jaquita Beach (Guía de Isora); San Marcos (Icod de los Vinos); El Socorro (Los Realejos); Bajamar and Arenisco (La Laguna); and La Arena (Tacoronte).

FUERTEVENTURA:
Corralejo Viejo, Grandes Playas, and La Concha in La Oliva; Butihondo, Costa Calma, El Matorral, and Morro Jable, in Pájara; Playa Blanca, Los Pozos, Puerto Lajas, in Puerto del Rosario; and Gran Tarajal, in Tuineje.
