A two-year-old girl who went missing on Saturday afternoon in Puntagorda, La Palma, was found alive and in good health yesterday morning, Sunday.
The child had disappeared from the holiday home where she was staying with her family, prompting a swift and coordinated search operation.
The alert was raised on Saturday evening, and authorities quickly mobilised a search effort in a rugged, heavily vegetated rural area of Puntagorda. The operation, led by the Guardia Civil, involved a wide array of emergency services and volunteer groups.
Thanks to the rapid deployment of search teams, the child was located early on Sunday morning. She was immediately taken to the Tijarafe health centre for a medical evaluation and was reported to be in good condition.
The search operation included personnel from the Guardia Civil, the Los Llanos de Aridane fire brigade, and volunteer groups such as Alfa Tango, AEA, and the Rescue Dog Group (GOSER). They also benefited from the use of drones from the Canary Islands Government, as well as the support of the Red Cross rescue team and environmental agents.
