The port of Santa Cruz in Tenerife is predicting that March will see the highest number of cruise ship passengers in the city since the pandemic began almost three years ago.
So far there are 45 confirmed stopovers with several days in the month when there will be three ships at the same time, and one day (23rd) with four, when the IONA, AIDA Aura, Mein Schiff Herz, and Azamara Onward will all be stopping at the island.
Last year, over 542,000 tourists’ visited Tenerife on cruise ships, which was 353,000 more than in 2021, and in 2023 there are already 313 stopovers planned for this year in Santa Cruz, which will increase as the year goes on.
Due to the recovery of the cruise traffic in Tenerife, the island has been chosen to host the Cruise Excellence Awards, a prestigious event in the international cruise industry will be held next Monday at the Tenerife Auditorium in Santa Cruz.
