A man died yesterday (Saturday) after falling from a fourth-floor apartment on Calle Chimia in Arrecife, Lanzarote, according to the Canary Islands Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES) 112.

The incident occurred just after 2:30 pm, when emergency services received a call reporting that a man had fallen from the upper floor of a residential building. The Local Police, National Police, and a medicalised ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) were immediately dispatched to the complex, but despite efforts from medical personnel, the man was confirmed dead shortly afterwards.

The circumstances surrounding the fall are still unclear, and the National Police have taken charge of the investigation to determine what happened. At this stage, no further details have been released regarding the victim or the cause of the fall.

Authorities are expected to provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.

This is not the first balcony‐related tragedy this year. In late October, a 56-year-old British tourist died and his 54-year-old companion was left critically injured after a balcony railing gave way at a hotel in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote, with both men falling approximately six metres to the ground. This latest fatal fall in Arrecife adds to growing concern over building and maintenance standards in both private and tourist accommodation in the islands.
