The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama has unveiled a major upgrade to its family facilities, including what it says is the largest Ritz Kids club in Europe and a brand-new Splash Park for children.

Located in Guía de Isora in the south of Tenerife, the luxury resort has renovated its children's club as part of a drive to expand the activities available to families staying at the hotel.

The revamped Ritz Kids covers 780 square metres and combines play, education and activities inspired by Tenerife's natural environment and local culture.

The resort has also opened a 176-square-metre Splash Park, designed for children aged up to 12.

Europe's largest Ritz Kids

The newly renovated children's club has been designed around nature, using rounded shapes, wood, plant fibres and pastel colours to create a bright and relaxed environment.

Activities are based around the four main themes of the Ritz Kids programme: Nature, Exploration, Responsibility and Culture.

The programme changes throughout the year and includes creative workshops, treasure hunts, educational games, activities based on Tenerife's biodiversity, opportunities to discover the resort's Koi carp, environmental challenges, and science and exploration activities adapted for different age groups.

The standard Ritz Kids programme is free for young guests staying at the hotel.

Children can also take part in special pizza-making and cupcake workshops for an additional €10.

An optional lunch menu is available between 1:00pm and 2:00pm for €25 per child, which can be booked on the same day before 11:00am.

Ritz Kids operates daily between 10:00am and 6:00pm, with morning and afternoon sessions.

The resort says activities are supervised by certified childcare staff, operating to Marriott International standards of one member of staff for every six children.

New Splash Park for children

Alongside the renovated kids' club, the resort has opened its new Splash Park, covering 176 square metres.

Designed for children aged between 0 and 12 years, it includes interactive games, water jets and activities centred around exploration and adventure.

Children can take part in underwater treasure hunts, work together to retrieve surprises trapped inside blocks of ice, and complete team challenges intended to encourage creativity and cooperation.

The Splash Park has a maximum water depth of just 30 centimetres and can accommodate up to 40 people at the same time.

The attraction is classified as an easy course and is suitable for users between 0.95 and 1.90 metres tall. Sun loungers and towels are also provided.

More facilities for family holidays in Tenerife

The new facilities have been designed to work together, combining the indoor jungle-inspired areas of Ritz Kids with the hotel's tropical gardens and outdoor water activities.

The resort says the investment forms part of its aim to strengthen its position in the family holiday market while maintaining the luxury facilities for which the hotel is known.

Alongside the children's facilities, The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama offers restaurants, a spa and extensive outdoor areas overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
