The National Police have arrested a man in the south of Tenerife accused of 21 burglaries in hospitality establishments and shops between Los Cristianos and La Caleta, in which he took over 15,000 euros in cash and items valued at almost 10,000 euros.
According to the police press release, the detainee always used the same method of stealing a scooter-type motorcycle which he used to ride around and check out places he was targeting to burgle after they had closed.
Later on that night he returned to the premises, broke in, and stole money from the cash register, fruit machines or any other source, plus other valuables he could easily lay his hands on.
Thanks to the denuncias (official complaints) from the business owners filed with the police, they were able to study CCTV footage and link the thefts and the identity of a suspect, who after various surveillance and follow-ups was caught and arrested.
The investigation remains open and further arrests are not ruled out, but the current detainee has been brought before the judicial authority for sentencing.
