A driver had a lucky escape yesterday afternoon (Thursday) after losing control of his car at a roundabout, going across some gardens, and nearly ‘landing’ on the TF-1 motorway from a height of around six metres.
The car was left dangling over the edge of a wall at junction 57 for San Isidro and El Medano in the south of Tenerife, much to the surprise of oncoming traffic on the northbound carriageway who had to pass underneath it.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident, and firefighters were able to hoist it back around 40 metres to safety before it was put onto a tow truck and taken away.
Police had a chat with the driver, who was visibly shaken up, but it seems it was just a freak accident and he was driving too fast, lost control, panicked, skidded across the gravel, and came to a standstill… just in time!
