Huge step forward for new Siam Park in Gran Canaria

The Municipal Government Board meeting held today in Gran Canaria has approved the proposal for an urban development agreement for the land in El Veril where the Siam Park water park is to be built in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. This is a massive step forwards to the granting of the final building license because three fundamental objectives have been approved.

The land is to be divided into three plots: one for Siam Park, another for a hotel, and a third for the council for parks and green areas. The Councillor for Urban Planning, Samuel Henríquez Quintana, said: “One of our main objectives was to be able to move forward with Siam Park, which we have managed to do, so much so, that in 4 months we have been able to respond to the State's hydraulic resource and today approve the file.”

“it is a strategic project for our destination which will improve tourism, as has been stated by both the Canary Islands Government and the Gran Canaria Cabildo, because it will boost the area of Playa del Inglés for leisure and families, and will serve as a driving force for the rest of the investments and actions carried out in that area.

“In the last 8 years it has had many obstacles, but from our point of view as the public administration, we have to do our homework, which is to stay within the legal guidelines to facilitate investments and generate legal guarantees for those who want to invest in San Bartolomé de Tirajana”.

He added that he is confident that " we will be in a position to license the project before the summer, and by the end of the year we can see the start of it.”
