The Directorate General of Emergencies for the Canary Islands Government, is ending the pre-alert for coastal conditions across the archipelago as of 5:00pm this afternoon, Saturday 15th March.
This decision has been made based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and other available sources, in accordance with the Canary Islands’ Specific Emergency Plan for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
The pre-alert had been in effect for the northern and western coasts of El Hierro, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and La Gomera; the western, northern, and northeastern coasts of La Palma; the northwestern and northern coasts of Tenerife; and the northern coast of Gran Canaria.
As the weather and sea conditions that warranted the pre-alert have now changed, the active warnings are officially ending.
