An Air France plane en route from Buenos Aires (Argentina) to Paris, was forced to make an emergency landing at Tenerife South Airport yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) after smoke was detected in the cabin.
According to the Air Traffic Controllers' account on X (formerly Twitter), the aircraft was given priority for a quick descent and direct approach to runway 07.
The plane landed without incident and cleared the runway. AENA reported that the cause of the smoke is still unknown.
Irene Viator, a passenger on the flight, tweeted that firefighters sprayed the aircraft with water upon landing and entered the cabin to check for a potential fire.
Initially, the cabin crew informed passengers of an electronics issue, citing a loss of electrical connection in the tail section of the plane. However, upon arrival at Tenerife South airport, firefighters were already on standby.
Passengers were disembarked and spent last night on the island before continuing their journey this morning.
