A Ryanair plane en route from Manchester to Tenerife was forced to make an emergency landing at Faro airport in the south of Portugal yesterday morning (Tuesday) due to engine failure during the flight. Flight number FR1249, which left the UK at 6:04am, requested the unscheduled stop for the safety of all on board.
According to reports from the airport manager, ANA Aeropuertos, the aircraft encountered technical issues necessitating swift action. The Boeing 737, carrying 164 passengers, successfully executed the emergency landing at Gago Coutinho-Faro Airport around 9:45am.
The pilot of the plane requested the unscheduled landing after a breakdown in one of the plane's engines, and air traffic control cleared the flight path for the plane to have priority and land as quickly as possible with the emergency services on standby on the ground.
