The Adeje meteorological station in the south of Tenerife, recorded a scorching 32.2 degrees Celsius yesterday (Monday), claiming the title for the country's highest temperature of the day as the Canary Islands emerged as Spain's hottest region, not forgetting it’s November!
The ten highest temperature readings yesterday were all recorded in the Canary Islands, with six locations surpassing 30 degrees:
Tenerife South Airport (31.5°C)
La Dama-Vallehermoso (31.3°C)
Tasarte-La Aldea (31.3°C)
Hermigua (30.7°C)
Arico (30.3°C)
and San Sebastián de La Gomera (30.3°C).
The provisional list of the highest temperatures also includes 29.7 degrees in La Graciosa, 29.6°C in Arucas, and 29.4°C in La Aldea de San Nicolás.
On another note, the Izaña weather station (Teide National Park) reported the strongest gusts of wind on Monday, reaching speeds of 65 kilometres per hour.
This is the day before the day that the General Directorate of Emergencies issued a wind pre-alert starting at midnight for all of the islands except Gran Canaria.
According to AEMET's forecast for today, Tuesday, there is expected to be a slight to moderate increase in minimum temperatures, and the calima (a dust and sand-laden wind) is anticipated to dissipate by the end of the day.
