The top prize in the Kings Day El Niño lottery has once again smiled on the Canary Islands, with Tenerife and Gran Canaria among the most fortunate locations in this year’s draw. The winning number, 06703, worth 2 million euros per series and 200,000 euros per decimo (ticket), was sold widely across both islands.

The El Niño lottery works significantly different way than say the EuroMillions, because it uses pre-printed five-digit tickets, known as décimos, rather than allowing players to choose their own numbers. Each number exists in multiple series, meaning many identical tickets can win at once, and the prize structure is designed to distribute thousands of small and medium payouts.

A décimo costs 20 euros, and the top prize is 200,000 euros per decimo ticket. People may buy as many décimos as they wish to win a minimum 200,000 euros or a bigger share of the jackpot. There are also many additional prizes for partial matches and ticket endings.

In Tenerife, the first-prize number was sold in several locations, including Tacoronte; the El Corte Inglés store in Santa Cruz; the administration on Calle Bethencourt Alfonso; and La Cruz Santa in Los Realejos. Additional winning décimos were also sold in El Tanque, Guargacho, a petrol station in Abades (Arico), Puerta Canseco in Santa Cruz, Los Rodeos Airport, Los Andenes in Taco, Las Caletillas, Garachico, Icod de los Vinos, and a Granadilla de Abona motorway service station.

Gran Canaria also saw a broad spread of luck, with the winning number sold at the administration in Plaza del Pilar in Las Palmas, as well as in Arinaga, Firgas, and Moya.

However, the second prize (45,875) and the third prize (32,615) did not land anywhere in the Canary Islands.

The draw also delivered numerous additional prizes.

  • Two four-digit extractions — 3,682 and 1,829 — awarded 350 euros per décimo.
  • Fourteen three-digit numbers — 367, 643, 156, 325, 511, 58, 457, 510, 861, 640, 400, 887, 392, 248 — paid out 100 euros per décimo.
  • Five two-digit endings — 27, 54, 37, 44, 94 — yielded 40 euros per décimo.
  • Refunds of 20 euros per décimo went to all tickets ending in 3, 1, and 0.
