Spanish air traffic controllers have confirmed the exact time Father Christmas is expected to pass over the Canary Islands on Christmas Eve, as preparations are completed for what they describe as the most magical operation of the year.
The air traffic controllers’ collective shared details of Father Christmas’s special flight route, designed to ensure gifts are delivered across Spain during a night that is expected to be both busy and full of excitement. According to the plan, Father Christmas has filed his official flight schedule, departing from Lapland and selecting a series of strategic airports to act as central distribution hubs.
These hubs, known as ARC airports, will be used to unload, sort and redistribute presents so they can reach every corner of the country on time. Controllers explained that all timings have been carefully coordinated, with flight slots maintained to within a margin of just five minutes.
They also revealed that Father Christmas’s sleigh will take advantage of high-altitude winds to speed up manoeuvres, meaning there are no delays expected in the delivery of gifts. Despite the sleigh’s well-known magical stealth technology, which can make it disappear from many tracking apps, controllers reassured the public that it never loses contact with radar systems, guaranteeing full monitoring throughout the journey.
For residents of the Canary Islands, the most eagerly awaited moment will come at around 7.50pm local time, when Father Christmas is scheduled to fly over the archipelago before continuing his route.
Families living far from airports have also been reassured that there is no need to worry. The so-called “last mile” of deliveries will be handled by specialist elves and reserve reindeer, ensuring presents arrive by air, by land, or straight down the chimney.
With the flight plan approved and skies expected to cooperate, everything is in place for Christmas Eve to unfold smoothly once again, allowing the magic of the night to reach homes across the Canary Islands and beyond.
