AEMET says that strong rain will hit the Canary Islands from tomorrow

Temperatures in the Canary Islands have finally decreased following a prolonged heatwave that had gripped the Archipelago, with maximum temperatures reaching close to 40°C in the middle of October. They have now returned to more seasonable values.

Yesterday's highest temperatures in the Islands were recorded in La Dama (Vallehermoso), Tasarte, and La Aldea, with 29.9°C, whereas Anaga (Santa Cruz) recorded 28.9°C, and Adeje recorded 28.7°C. These temperatures were far from the top 10 hottest records in Spain.

However, on Tuesday, Tasarte recorded the country's highest temperature at 32°C, Anaga had 30.6°C (the seventh-highest), and Adeje registered 30.4°C, ranking ninth in the country. Furthermore, partly cloudy skies led to scattered light rain.

The forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) indicates that temperatures will continue to drop over the next few days, settling between 25 and 27°C on the coasts. There is a possibility of rain today in the mountainous areas of the islands and, from tomorrow, rain is expected across the entire Archipelago due to the Aline storm.

Although the tail of the storm only caused light drizzles in some areas of the Canary Islands, it is expected to bring substantial and widespread rain, strong winds, and rough seas from tomorrow (Friday).
