The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has announced that some much-needed rain is coming to the Canary Islands from tomorrow, Thursday 29th February. It has been well-reported that the archipelago is experiencing serious drought conditions and that a downpour would be very beneficial to water reserves and agriculture on the islands.
The ongoing warning for very strong northeast gusts of wind will remain in effect for the islands of La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro. These winds are forecast to affect the early and late hours of the day on the summits and southeast and northwest slopes of La Gomera, as well as the El Paso area in La Palma. Additionally, during the first half of the day, they will impact the southeast and northwest slopes of El Hierro.
AEMET's forecast for tomorrow predicts overcast skies in the north of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, with cloudy intervals in other areas, and the likelihood of locally moderate rain showers, primarily during the second half of the day.
However, there is only a low probability of occasional drizzle in the easternmost islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura during the second half of the day, where it will be clearer.
Temperatures are expected to see minimal changes, with some slight increases in minimum temperatures and slight decreases in maximums, particularly in the inland areas.
