A new wave of Atlantic storms are approaching the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are expected to have more unsettled weather this week as a new train of Atlantic storms are approaching the archipelago, mirroring the broader meteorological situation affecting mainland Spain.

According to eltiempo.es, while the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) faces a succession of strong Atlantic storms, the Canary Islands will not escape the impact from the tail end of these atmospheric systems.

By midweek, the islands are expected to experience the effects of the fronts associated with the storms which are likely to bring rainfall to various parts of the archipelago and may result in more snow and ice on the highest peaks of Mount Teide in Tenerife and Roque Los Muchachos in La Palma.

Despite the instability, temperatures in the Canary Islands will remain relatively mild, with highs exceeding 20 degrees Celsius, which contrasts sharply with the cooler conditions forecast for mainland Spain, where the impact of the storms is expected to be more severe.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has maintained yellow weather warnings for coastal phenomena in the Canary Islands, urging residents and visitors to stay vigilant, and aren’t ruling out further alerts with these incoming fronts.
