The Ministry of Health and the regional Health Authorities have met this morning via zoom, and have agreed on a date for scrapping the mandatory use of masks outdoors in public, when social distancing allows. In an extraordinary plenary session of the Inter-territorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS), they have also approved the expansion of capacity limits at sporting events.
These measures, which will be decreed tomorrow by the Council of Ministers, will come into force on Thursday, after their publication in the Official State Boletin (BOE) on Wednesday, meaning that masks will not be required to be worn outdoors when you can guarantee being more than 1.5 metres from other people.
They will still apply indoors in places open to the public, such as shops, bars, and restaurants, with the same rules applying as now when seated or moving around hospitality venues.
The approval of raising capacity limits applies to sports competitions of the National Professional Football League and the League of the Association of Basketball Clubs (ACB), as well as other massive sporting events.
They have agreed to increase them from 75% to 85% for events in open-air venues such as football or athletics stadiums, where masks are to be worn if distancing cannot be maintained, and the maximum capacity increases from 50% to 75% in indoor arenas where masks are obligatory.
