A seven-year-old boy has been rescued from a near-drowning incident in a hotel pool in Tenerife today (Sunday). The young child was rescued from the pool unconscious and in critical condition at a resort located in Puerto de la Cruz in the north of the island.
According to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) report, the boy, who is of British nationality and on holiday with his parents, was pulled from the water by a lifeguard on duty at the hotel pool.
He cleared the boy’s airway and tried to revive him until paramedics arrived promptly at the hotel and took over managing to revive him and stabilise him so he could be taken to the HUC Hospital where he has been admitted for further treatment.
The boy’s condition remains under close observation as medical staff work to ensure he makes a full recovery. The quick actions of the lifeguard and emergency services were crucial in preventing a potential tragedy.
