68-year-old woman airlifted to hospital after falling onto rocks at Playa del Cura

A 68-year-old woman has been critically injured after falling onto a rocky area at Playa del Cura, near Puerto Mogán in Gran Canaria.

The accident, which occurred at around 10:00am yesterday (Sunday), resulted in her suffering severe head and leg injuries, according to emergency services.

Following the fall, the woman lost consciousness and was found in a critical condition by firefighters who safely extracted the injured woman from the rocky coastal area.

They took her to a safe location where paramedics were waiting to treat her, who determined that she was in cardiac arrest and immediately performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), successfully restoring her pulse.

Once stabilised, she was airlifted in a medicalised helicopter to the University Insular Hospital in Las Palmas for further urgent medical attention. 

The authorities have not yet released further updates on the woman’s condition, but her injuries were described as critical at the time of her arrival at the hospital.
