Christmas and New Year in the Canary Islands have been celebrated on the beaches and by the pools with clear skies and unusually high temperatures for the time of year, with coats and scarves swapped for bikinis and swimming trunks. However, all good things must come to an end, and that is the case for the mini heatwave in the archipelago.
According to the forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), in the next few days, especially as of Kings Day, January 6th, cloudy skies, higher winds, cooler temperatures, and rain will hit the islands, particularly those of higher relief, and mainly in the north, but the south will have some showers.
High temperatures of around 21 degrees are expected in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and low temperatures of 11 degrees in La Orotava and 12 degrees in Arona are forecast.
