Police close Correlejo due to massive parties and venues exceeding capacity
Last night officers from the Guardia Civil, the Reserve and Security Group (GRS), the Fuerteventura Traffic Department of Puerto del Rosario, closed off the town of Corralejo, with traffic checkpoints, as well as control and security checks of venues after reports of crowds and parties.
For all these reasons, various reports were issued for the possession of narcotic substances, one for possession of a firearm, two for exceeding the capacity allowed in venues, and several others for breaking other anti-Covid measures including the use of masks.
Fuerteventura is moving to Level 3 restrictions on Monday due to the sharp increase in infections, and gatherings without the proper security measures are not helping alleviate the pandemic.
The police reported that sanctions and fines have been issued for various different infractions; with the more serious ones carrying hefty fines over 3,000 euros.
