A large jet of lava has emerged today in the western part of the Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption, causing experts to believe, at first, that it was the creation of a new eruptive ‘mouth’, something that, fortunately, has not happened.
This jet, which is advancing through one of the volcanic tubes, has caused a new flow that has reached the Las Manchas cemetery, where the only crematorium is on the island.
The director of Volcanic Surveillance of the National Geographic Institute (IGN) and spokesperson for the Pevolca Scientific Committee, Carmen López, said at a press conference, that there has also been an increase in the emission rate, with lava flowing between flows 4 and 7, a surrounding the northeast area of the Todoque mountain.
🌋 Por primera vez desde que comenzó la erupción del volcán de La Palma hemos visto está imagen: una fuente de lava que sale con fuerza de la boca efusiva del volcán. Este nuevo aporte ha provocado un desborde en la ladera.
