AENA has informed that La Palma airport is currently inoperative due to ash accumulation overnight on the runway making it unsafe for take-off and landing, adding that cleaning has already begun and they hope that the situation will change shortly, saying "the priority is to guarantee the safety of operations."
According to their official press release, the rest of the airports in the Canary Islands are fully operational, although they recommend that travellers confirm the status of their flight with their airline.
In total 30 flights have been cancelled by Binter, CanaryFly, Iberia, and Vueling since yesterday, when Binter were the first ones to suspend flights due to the ash cloud from the volcano.
However, Binter has now resumed its flights with the island of La Gomera, and with the Tenerife North and South airports, given the improvement in flight conditions due to the recent behaviour of the ash cloud affected by the wind.
