Infections stagnate in the Canaries, Balearics could have tourists first

A month ago, the Canary Islands were the Spanish region with the most favourable epidemiological data in the whole of the country. However, this position is currently held by Extremadura, with an AI7 of 19.57 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and eight other regions: the Balearics, Valencia, Murcia, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia, La Rioja, Cantabria and Andalusia, all now have infection rates lower than the Canaries, where the AI7 has stagnated above 50 points.

With the data from the latest report issued by the Ministry of Health on Friday, seven communities that presented high or extreme risk due to contagion in January have managed to place their cumulative incidence rate below that barrier. In addition to Extremadura, the Balearic Islands have achieved this, with an AI7 of 25.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants meaning they could receive tourists; as could the Valencian Community, with a rate of 28 points; Murcia with 35.7; Castilla-La Mancha (35.9); Galicia (40.45) and La Rioja (40.72).
