A heat wave with ‘abnormally high temperatures’ is due in the Canary Islands

The weather forecast for the next few days in the Canary Islands shows cloudy skies with the probability of weak and occasional showers during the morning and at dusk, with hardly any change in temperatures, according to the State Meteorological Agency this Monday morning. However, Meteo Tenerife has published that throughout the week a "considerable thermal increase" is expected.

"A possible heat wave is just around the corner," they have posted on Twitter, pointing out that as of Thursday and, especially, Saturday and Sunday "we will experience abnormally high temperatures in the archipelago for the time of year, particularly inland and in high areas.”

In the meantime the forecast for today, by islands, is as follows:

GRAN CANARIA:
Cloudy start to the day in the north and east, clearing this afternoon mainly inland. In the rest, slightly cloudy or clear alternating with cloudy intervals. Probability of weak, occasional and scattered rains in the north, mainly during the first half of the day and in the later hours. North wind with some strong interval on southeast and west slopes. Mostly breezes on the south and north coasts.
Las Palmas: maximum temperature of 25ºC and minimum of 21ªC

TENERIFE:
Cloudy In the north clearing during the central hours. In the rest, cloudy intervals and clear in high areas. Chance of light, occasional and scattered rains in the northeast, mainly during the first half of the day. Temperatures with few changes or in slight decrease. Moderate wind from north to northeast with some strong intervals on the eastern slope of the Metropolitan Area, and in the northwest point. Breezes on the north, west and east coasts
Santa Cruz: maximum temperature of 28ºC and minimum of 22ªC

LANZAROTE:
In the north, cloudy start but clearing in the afternoon, and without ruling out some isolated drizzle during the first half of the day. In the south, slightly cloudy or clear, alternating with some interval of low clouds. Temperatures with little change. North wind, more intense in inland areas.
Arrecife: maximum temperature of 27ºC and minimum of 21ªC

FUERTEVENTURA:
Cloudy intervals, with mainly slightly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Temperatures with little change. North wind, more intense in inland areas and on the southern slope of Jandía.
Puerto del Rosario: maximum temperature of 27ºC and minimum of 21ªC
