The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has informed that the yellow Alert for the Risk of Forest Fires in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, El Hierro, La Gomera, and La Palma ends at 8:30pm tonight after an improvement in the meteorological conditions in the islands.
This decision is made taking into account the information available and in the application of the Specific Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Assistance for Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (INFOCA).
This marks the end of the extreme heat that has affected the archipelago since July 13th. However, in the municipality of Arico in Tenerife, the Emergency Situation at Level 0 is maintained (declaration 1/2021 / INFOCA), and in the rest of the archipelago, the INFOCA Pre -Alert statement no. 4/2021 is still in force, which is normal for this time of year as it is still hot and dry.
