The strong wind that is hitting many parts of the archipelago due to the Atlantic storm 'Filomena' has so far caused the cancellation of eight flights on the islands of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, according to sources from Aena.
Two Binter and two Canaryfly flights to Tenerife North have been cancelled on La Palma, another from Binter to Gran Canaria, and an Iberia Express departure to Madrid have also been cancelled, while a second Iberia Express flight has been diverted to Tenerife South on its way from Madrid.
In El Hierro, a Binter flight scheduled to go to Tenerife North has been cancelled, and in La Gomera and in Tenerife North there have been two Binter flights diverted, which have returned because they could not land on La Gomera and El Hierro, and lastly a Ryanair flight from Santiago de Compostela, has also been diverted to the Tenerife South airport.
More cancellations and delays are expected between now and the weekend until the storm clears the Canary Islands.
