Dead pilot whale washes up on a beach in Gran Canaria

The body of a dead Calderon tropical pilot whale washed up on the Ojos de Garza beach in Telde late yesterday afternoon (Tuesday), the same coast where an adult whale got stranded a few days ago, as reported by Teldeactualidad.

The marine animal is over two metres long and is approximately 700 kilos in weight, and the Local Police had to cordon off an area at one end of the beach and move the carcass to the avenue away from the sea so that the tide didn’t take it away again.

This morning (Wednesday), it is being taken for an autopsy to determine the cause of its death and the reasons for its stranding on the beach.
